Ingredients
5 cups water
1 1/2 cups grits (regular not quick or instant)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil or butter
hot sauce to taste (optional)
Preparation
Cook grits on your stove top according to the directions. Stir in the olive oil or butter, cheese, salt and hot sauce. Place in a casserole and bake for 30 minutes in a 350 oven. This will “set” the grits and form a nice crust on top. The baking is optional but highly recommended.
