Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper

2 cups crisp rice cereal

Preparation

Cream butter; add flour and next 3 ingredients, mixing until well blended. Stir in cereal. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls. Place balls about 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten each ball with a fork dipped in flour. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool completely on wire racks.
