Ingredients

2 cups flour (sifted)

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp ground ginger

1/2 tsp ground cloves

3/4 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup molasses

Preparation

Sift all dry ingredients together and set aside.

Mix shortening, sugar and molasses until creamy. Add eggs and beat well.

Blend in flour mixture. Make small ball the size of a golf ball roll in sugar and place on cool ungreased cookie sheet and press them down (using a glass bottom if needed)

Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes.
