Ingredients

1/2 c shortening

1 1/2 c sugar

2 eggs

1/2 c milk

1 tsp vanilla

4 Tbsp cocoa

2 c flour

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 c boiling water

Preparation

Cream shortening with sugar. Add eggs, milk and vanilla and mix. Add cocoa,mix. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix thoroughly. Pour boiling water over it all and mix again. Bake 350 for 30 minutes in 2 round 7" cake pans or one 9X13 pan. Bake for 25 minutes for 18 cupcakes.
