Ingredients

2 T unsalted butter

3 T milk (or cream, for added richness)

1/2 c packed brown sugar

1 c confectioner’s sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Preparation

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and mix in the milk and brown sugar. Boil vigorously for one minute. Remove from heat and beat in 1/2 c of confectioner’s sugar. Cool slightly, then beat in the vanilla and remaining sugar. Add more milk if mixture is too thick.
