Ingredients
1 3/4 cup all-purpose Flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup candied oranges (home made or store bought)
1/4 cup whole milk
1/4 cup sour cream or yogurt
1 egg
1 tablespoon reserved orange syrup or milk
Preparation
Preheat oven to 400 Degrees
Sift first 4 ingredients together
Cut the butter into the dried mix with a pastry blender or rub with hands until it has the consistency of oatmeal
Add milk and sour cream Mix lightly until it’s firm enough to form a solid dough. Try not to over mix.
Place dough on floured cutting board and do not mix, but form it into a round shape 1/2 inch thick. It’s okay if it has lumps
Place on a non stick cookie sheet or wax paper
Cut into 8 wedges, no need to separate
Mix egg and syrup and brush on top of dough
Bake for about 10-15 minutes until light brown
Let cool in pan, then break apart to eat
