Ingredients

1/4 head medium cabbage, sliced

1 medium onion, sliced

1 medium Jalapeno, sliced (remove seeds for less heat)

4 large garlic cloves, finely diced or crushed

1/4 teaspoon Liquid Smoke

1 Bay leaf

2 large vegetarian bouillon cubes

6-8 cups water

2 handfuls dry beans, any variety, washed

Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Place all ingredients into a large stock pot.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer until beans are tender (approximately 2 hours).
  4. Adjust salt and pepper to your taste.
  5. Serve.
