Ingredients

2 1/4 c flour

1 1/2 c sugar

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 c butter or margarine

1/4 c shortening

1 1/2 tsp vanilla

1 c buttermilk

4 egg whites

Preparation

Sift together dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add butter, shortening, vanilla and 3/4 c buttermilk. Beat 2 minutes with electric mixer. Add remaining buttermilk and egg whites. Beat 2 minutes more. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes for round pans or 30 - 35 minutes for 9x13 pan.
