Ingredients

8 slices rustic Italian bread, about 3/4 in thick

Extra-virgin olive oil

4 large garlic cloves, peeled and cut in half

salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. Place bread slices on a baking sheet and toast under preheated broiler until slightly toasted on both sides. (A charcoal grill will give it a smokey flavor)

  2. Remove from oven and rub one side with cut slices of a garlic clove.

  3. Drizzle toast with a liberal amount of olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
