Ingredients
One cup cooked Farmhouse® Long Grain White Rice
4 eggs
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups milk
Nutmeg or cinnamon (optional)
Preparation
Spread rice in the bottom of a buttered 5-cup baking dish. Beat eggs; stir in sugar, salt, orange peel and vanilla. Add milk. Pour carefully over rice. Sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon, if desired. Set dish in larger pan containing 1 inch hot water. Bake in 325° F oven until soft-set in center, 45 to 50 minutes. Remove dish with custard from hot water. Cool, then refrigerate.
