Ingredients
1 kg Beef Shin
1 tbsp. Chopped Garlic
1 ½ tbsp. five spice powder
120 g galangal
1 tbsp. black soy sauce
3 tbsp. light soy sauce
½ tbsp. salt
3-4 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. peppercorn
100 g roof of coriander
3-4 cups water
1 tblsp corn oil
Preparation
Mix the 5 spice powder, galangal slices, soy sauces, coriander roots, sugar, salt and peppercorns and set aside.
Heat oil and saute garlic till light brown.
Add beef and the mixture above and fry for 5 minutes.
Cover and cook for another 3-5 minutes.
Add enough water to cover beef and cook over medium heat until boiling.
Turn heat to low and simmer until beef is tender, about 3 hours.
Stir occasionally and add more water if it dries too quickly.
Serve the beef, sliced, and the thick gravy spread over the top and garnish with coriander leaf.
