Ingredients
4 slices buttered bread, cut in squares
1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 pint milk
Preparation
Beat eggs & sugar together. Add milk & vanilla. Add buttered bread. Bake in “slow” oven (300) for 40 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool slightly, but can be served warm with whipped cream.
Tip: Since this is a custard, I suggest the baking dish be put into a larger one filled with water. I did it both ways. When usign the outer water, the heat can be turned up to 325-350 and baking time is less.
